Description

The royal capital of the ancient kingdom of Northumbria, Bamburgh is famed for its stunning beach and spell-binding castle that’s believed to have been occupied for over 1,400 years and has, since 1894, been in the ownership of the Armstrong family. Less than 4 miles south, the fishing village of Seahouses has a bustling harbour where boats offer trips to the nearby Farne Islands, a haven for puffins and seals, while dolphins often swim in the surrounding waters. World famous for its medieval religious heritage and 16th-century castle, Lindisfarne – also known as Holy Island – is a 15-mile drive from Bamburgh and can be reached, when the tides permit, via a paved causeway.

Around a mile from Bamburgh Castle, this beautiful holiday home is one of the original Armstrong Cottages and boasts an idyllic seaside location. A chic coastal style flows throughout with rich colours, designer furnishings, copper, marble and a long list of complimentary must-haves to make every holiday here memorable. All at ground level, there’s a super-stylish kitchen/dining/living room where you can unwind in comfort and enjoy a selection of toys and games, plus a TV for home-style entertainment. A wood burner will add a warm glow to nights in, and in the kitchen area, there’s an electric Aga to inspire mealtime planning. Two dreamy bedrooms with plush mattresses await, each with en-suite facilities. One has a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom, the other has twin beds that can be converted to a king-size plus an en-suite shower room – a layout that’s ideal for two couples, a family or a group of friends.

Balance busy days out with some laid-back time in your own private garden – beautiful Bamburgh Beach is just beyond the dunes if you want an after-dinner stroll.

Reviews

From the moment we arrived at Armstrong 8, we knew we had found something special. Nestled in a picturesque location, this charming cottage exceeded our expectations in every way, offering a perfect blend of comfort and tranquility. The interior was beautifully decorated, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately made us feel at home. The furnishings were homely and cozy, and every little detail—from the ambient lighting, throws and log burner—was thoughtfully arranged for maximum comfort. The well-equipped kitchen made self-catering effortless. One of the highlights was the peaceful setting. Whether enjoyed curling up by the log burner in the evening, taking long walks to various beaches during the day. Every moment felt like a retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring restful nights, and the bathroom facilities were modern. The location was equally impressive—secluded enough to feel private and peaceful, yet conveniently close to charming villages, scenic walking trails, and local attractions. Whether we wanted to explore the area or simply unwind, this cottage provided the ideal base. Overall, Atmstron 8 is a true gem. this is the place to be. We will be returning.

The location could not be bettered, such a cute and comfortable cottage… and the comfort of the beds is out of this world! So pleased we booked this cottage for half term - I would heartily recommend it.

Miss J,

Absolutely perfect.

Ms B,

A pretty cottage that would be good in sunny weather. We had bad weather and didn't find the cottage comfy for long periods of use.

Mr T,

Perfect location. A lovely place to stay- house beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a long weekend

Mrs H,

Absolutely amazing stay. Cottage is so well designed. So much thought (and expense) has gone into making this cottage the most perfect cottage to rent in Bamburgh. Location, location, location - perfect. Loved everything about it. Absolutely perfect. Thank you x

Miss A,

Gorgeous cottage well equipped for all our needs, excellent location for the dunes and the beach. You can see the castle from the front garden plenty of parking one spot in front of the cottage with others just across the road, a very quiet spot for a relaxing holiday.

Mrs F,

A beautiful cottage designed to a high standard . We hired bikes for 2 days and were able to keep them in the garage opposite the cottage which was great. Perfect location for the beach literally 5minutes walk over the road and onto the Sand dunes Just 10 minutes walk into Bamburgh too. Everything was tastefully done and very clean . We will definitely be back .

Mrs S,

Disappointed there was no welcome pack (Bread, milk etc) as there had been in previous years. This is a really nice extra touch. Extractor fan in bathroom not working. Coffee machine very temperamental. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay. The above are not complaints just feedback.

Mr R,

Had a lovely stay, great location

Mrs D,
