Arctic terns and little terns at Long Nanny, Beadnell

Published: Wednesday 5th Jul 2017

Take a stroll to the southern end of Beadnell Beach to Long Nanny and you’ll catch sight of arctic and little terns – two rare seabirds nesting in this area. The National Trust has been protecting this nationally important breeding site since 1977, which has seen numbers of these species increase year on year. Rangers are monitoring Long Nanny at the moment and visitors are welcome to come and chat to them and see the birds nesting and feeding. Just follow the diversion signs from the beach. Dogs are welcome too, but they must be kept on a lead.
