Beautiful Retreats in unforgettable locations for the Summer
Why go?
High Mill, sleeping up to 10, has ample space for entertainment and relaxation making it an ideal getaway for family and friends get togethers. Enjoy some unforgettable feasts around the table for 10 in the open plan living area or head out to the large lawned garden with children’s play equipment, table tennis and outdoor furniture for some open-air downtime.
Nearest beach
Beadnell Bay is a crescent-shaped beach backed by dunes popular with watersport enthusiasts and young families. There is a car park and toilet and washing facilities – a necessity when young children are in tow – plus two village pubs and a café in walking distance should you wish to dine out. You can also pick up the coastal path from here, walking down the beach towards Newton where you’ll find another sandy bay and an excellent pub called The Ship Inn.
Cooling off spot
On the patio at the rear, just by the house, with a cold drink from the kitchen and some great countryside views.
Quench your thirst at…
The Ship Inn. Live music, real ale and seafood fresh off the boat at this by the beach pub in Newton by the Sea. Relax in the beer garden while the children play safely on the shore.
Grab a bite to eat at…
The Joiner’s Arms in High Newton. A gastro pub serving home style cooking using local produce. £10 off two main meals and a drink for Coastal Retreats guests.
Don’t go home without…
Visiting The Alnwick Garden where you can see the world’s largest wooden treehouse and run along its wobbly bridges, take your chances in the poison garden and the bamboo maze or cool off in the water features.
Rainy day tip
Have a pool competition in High Mill’s games room or venture out to Barter Books in Alnwick – a second hand book store in a former railway station with a café and lots of reading nooks.
