Christmas Coastal Retreats style
Published: Thursday 1st Nov 2018
hoose any of our Retreats for Christmas and you’ll be immediately dazzled by the warmth of our welcome and the comfort and finesse of your surroundings. All our Retreats are festively styled from the beginning of December and we provide our complimentary hampers with a seasonal twist for bookings including Christmas Day. Sprinkle into this mix some log burning fires, magical castles, wintry beach walks and hearty meals in stunning locations and we have no doubt that Northumberland won’t fail to deliver its Christmas magic for you.
Family and friends Christmas gathering
From Christmas movies in the entertainment room to a showstopping festive lunch in the high end kitchen/diner, North Star House is a Christmas present in itself. Sleeping 12, it is situated in the heart of Bamburgh village for pubs, restaurants and the beach. We’d also recommend Duneside House (sleeps 10) in Beadnell and Moo House (sleeps 12) in Tughall Steads, near Newton.
Christmas for couples
Sneak away this Christmas and have a blissful break for two at The Old Paper Mill, near Durham city. Enticingly warm and festive, this Retreat has a cosy lounge with log burning stove – perfect for lazy days or relaxing after wintry walks. We’d also recommend The Lodge@Shirewater in Embleton.
Home from home Retreats
Driftwood is a relaxed and easy getaway for families who want that cosy, warm feeling Christmas at home creates but want to escape their bricks and mortar this year. Heaps of DVDs, board games and a feature log burner make days hanging out at the cottage simpler while the outdoor play area is ideal for kids to let off steam. We’d also recommend Craster Retreat (sleeps 8) and The Wood Store (sleeps 6) in Tughall Steads, near Newton.
Christmas at the coast
Wake up to the sound of the waves on Christmas morning at Craster Waves. Enjoy your turkey with the sea as your backdrop and take pleasure in the view well into the night with the log burner lighting up the scene. A great location for a Christmas break, Craster village is walking distance away with its pub and cafe. We’d also recommend Salt Air (sleeps 4) in Seahouses.
Christmas with pets
The Old Gardener’s has a classic cosy cottage style perfect for the festive season – think chunky knit socks, soft throws, crackling fires and lots of mulled wine. Situated just outside of Craster, you are close to the coast for some fabulous dog walks. We’d also recommend Smuggler’s Hide (sleeps 5) in Beadnell and Mr & Mrs Smith’s (sleeps 6) in Bamburgh.
