We are passionate about Northumberland and its people, supporting local charities when we can in the communities where our Retreats are based.
Some of our most recent donations have involved projects, which not only encourage tourism, but make these communities sustainable long after the visitors return home.
This coastal rowing boat, known as a St Ayles skiff, was built by people from Craster and the surrounding villages thanks to a donation from ourselves and other contributors. It will be used for regular rowing sessions around the harbour, and enables Craster to join other nearby villages, such as Amble and Alnmouth, to row their skiffs together on the sea.
Improvements to the Play Park at Craster
Funds were given to Craster Community Trust to provide new equipment and maintenance of this much-loved play park on the seafront at Craster, which is used by many of the junior guests staying in our cottages, as well as by local children.
Daffodil Bonanza Quest, Beadnell in Bloom
Beadnell in Bloom will be creating a golden circle of daffodils at the main entrance of Beadnell village by planting 10,000 daffodil bulbs. Coastal Retreats has donated 2,000 daffodil bulbs to their quest in creating this inviting Springtime welcome to visitors and residents.
Our office is situated in the busy Gosforth High Street just outside of Newcastle City Centre so we felt it was important to work with other local businesses to fund this life-saving device. Our money has enabled the installation of a public access Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) outside of Café 95 on the High Street. This is hugely beneficial to local people and will help to increase survival from cardiac arrest due to its accessibility.
As a small company, we take pride in being able to make these small efforts that are of benefit to our much-loved county.
